Home

you were looking around, keeping your senses sharp,
eager to hold on to everything here and now,
the moment before you started penning this postcard.

so much you wished to tell,
you knew the picture at the back would not do the place just,
and words would easily fall short of how you felt,

but when you did start,
words poured out unplanned,
a pang of excitement and inspiration carried you all the way

that you even have to squeeze in a line or two,
beneath the tiny margin under the address, and above the stamps,
until the last bit of space is used up.

when you sent the postcard,
you placed it in good hands of the postmen
who will see to it until it reaches where it should.

please know, too, that the person who receives it,
will read your words over and over again, keep this precious moment safe,
and gift it back to you when you most need it.
