Seven more days to go.
This is a feat!

So chuffed with this experience.
Now the final lap,
a challenge.

NaPoWriMo.net has daily prompts,
which are fun and inspiring,
but I’ve hardly followed any.

Now though, I’ll pick the ones I most dread,
all the set meters, rhymes and designated lines…

I will attempt villanelle, triolet, cinquain,
ottava rima, tanka/haiku, pantoum, and cap it off
with a note of gratitude* starting and ending with the same word.

Nothing to be ashamed of if I fail,
for the attempt should only enrich the experience –
and how can I judge if I will fail or nail it?

After all, I’ve never expected myself to be able
to pick up this poetry scheme, but I did,
with the companionship and rapport of fellow writers.

So let us all enjoy this final lap,
the seven-day count-down.
